“Spider-Gwen” isn’t really a name a character uses, but it’s the name of a comic. It’s an alternate version of the standard Marvel setup, where Gwen Stacy (Spidey’s girlfriend before Mary Jane, who was murdered by Green Goblin in a comic that came out before most of us were born) instead gets bitten by the spider, and Peter is the damsel in distress who gets murdered. She always calls herself Spider-Woman; “Spider-Gwen” is a name she was given when she met other Spider-Men and -Women who figured out what her deal was. Whether you’re a comics dork like me or not, it’s a pretty badass costume and Victoria is seriously rocking it here.
