New Owner Wants to End Playboy Magazine!?

Playboy

After the death of Hugh Hefner, the Hefner estate sold off all their shares in Playboy magazine to a company called Rizvi Traverse Management LLC. Rizvi now wants to license out the Playboy brand to various companies rather than publish a magazine which is reportedly losing about $7 million per year. They also want stop creating original content, which means that after this year, we might never see an original Playmate every again.Source

Probably inevitable but still sad to see the iconic magazine go.

I’ve had zero interest in anything playboy since the internet became a thing.

even by softcore standards playboy has been the lamest of any.

the only entertainment i’ve gotten from anything playboy in the last 20 years has been the comedic value of the ex-playmates who think anyone gives a shit about them.

Look at the closure of magazines similar to Playboy in recent years and the trend is moving to online subscriptions, so I imagine they could look at doing an online magazine instead of a printed one!

Once A-listers doing Playboy shoots stopped being a thing, the writing was on the wall. I’m honestly surprised it took over a decade and Hef’s death for it to happen. I kind of miss the days when mainstream movie and TV stars who wanted to be a pin-up for a day or make a quarter million dollars for one day of showing their tits off had an “excuse” to do it. But Playboy as it is now? That’s no loss.

Playboy has been dead for most of the 21st century.

Yep… Playboy was fun when I turned 13 and found out about naked women and all that but damn, it got boring fast…. first because they never really favored curvy thick girls with big natural boobs (which is what I and most men adore) but rather the same skinny ass plastic blondes with fake C’s all the time. Second, they had the potential to beautifully display so many hot girls in their video specials from the 90’s and early 2000’s but they always had to destroy them by including some dude in the middle or just any form of male presence, it just ruined my wank…

Anyway, good ridance, Playboy.. you won’t be really missed…

Edit: The only time they ever got their videos right was with their “No Boys Allowed” special, but by that time they were all skinny girls, so there you go..

The magazine is lizensed out in every country it is published outside the U.S.. In every other country, the regional version comed from an outlet that has nothing to do with Playboy Enterprises, just holds the license. So this has nothing to say. The new owner just seems not wanting to loose money, so they might license it to someone else who still produces the magazine, and they just make the money with the license. That’s not a that bad idea.
But even for me the U.S. issue was already done after they treid to do it without “real” nudity. There are still good foreign Playboy versions. German editin is still very classy and according to the head of the company, that wont change eiter.

Hey Zorken, how the fuck do you presume to first KNOW what most men likes and then make yourself into a spokesperson for that assumption too?
I don’t like “curvy, thick girls with natural boobs” which btw in 99% of the cases is code for fatty!
