Boobie Blog Bandwith Woes
A couple of days ago the Boobie Blog bandwith tripled in just a day which made my webhost send me an email saying Ive used up a lof of extra bandwith. The cool bill for this exra bandwith would be about $750 on top of my normal hosting bill. The fact that traffic to Boobie Blog has been about the same since october and I havent done anything which would cause such a drastic change makes me believe some foul play is involved.
My hosting is investigating the matter and Ive spent most of yesterday and will spend most of today trying to find a cause for all this. I have and will make a couple of changes to decrease the amont of bandwith usage Boobie Blog uses and to increase advertising revenue.
1. The main categories now contain 50 of the latest posts instead of 100. If you want older posts with lets say Lucy Pinder you have to click on her name and not Busty Brits.
2. I am going to put the full size images on HTML pages instead of a direct link, this will give me an extra ad space. Its not going to be cluttered at all and not give you much extra loading time either. View sample.
3. I really hope to avoid this but if it comes to worse case I will be forced to use Image Venue or another image hosting service instead of hosting pics myself.
4. Another worse case scenario is that archives will be limited meaning I will delete old posts completely from the site.

Niklas, your site is just too good, face the truth. It’s got what lots of people really appreciate to look at, some humor, and last but not least…. it’s free. You’re building a loyal base of viewers who continuously return to see what you’ve updated next, and no doubt you’ve been attracting new people also. If these are the only adjustments you’ll have to make, I’m surprised and very glad. I for one, am exceedingly thankful for your site and I don’t think I’m alone in these sentiments. Dude. set up a donations system, i.e. random donations of a couple of quid here or there or a regular donation taken via direct debt out of there bank accounts. you know like a paypal thing, but for boobies.
id be will do donate afew of my hard earn british pounds for boobies, everybody loves boobies!
I don’t begrudge you the extra ad revenue, go for it. But how about making the picture clickable to a direct link in the ad page? I find it easier to click the picture and ctrl+s to save for those I like to collect.
I wonder how much of the bandwidth leakage is due to people hotlinking to the hosted images.

There’s a chance that other sites are hotlinking to your images. You might want to check your logs for referring pages — if a really popular site has been linking to posts of yours, traffic is bound to multiply.
I believe it was the lucy pinder video as I saw that posted on a few other sites, redirects to the source file (the boobie blog hosted one).
Do we have to click the ads to help out or just have them displayed?

Maybe you could transfer old pics/vids to an external site (imageshack or whatever). Saves bandwidth, and wouldn’t be too bad, as (speaking only for myself, don’t know what others think) I only rarely look back at old pics, and wouldnt mind the extra load times occassionally.
Sorry about not getting back to you guys sooner. If you’ve sent an e-mail i will get back to you asap. Anyways.. the issue might have been resolved. I will know for sure on monday and will make a new post. Just a couple of notes:

2. I would set up a paypal donations button but unfortunatley paypal does not like any affiliation with adult so my and everyone’s paypal account would run a risk of getting frozen.
3. Its not a hotlinking issue because I have protection against that.

Withleather posted a link to your blog a few days ago. That likely explains the increase in traffic.

Just a hunch/tip… I notice that the “Archive” links at bottom right have disappeared. That might be sending everybody in to click on every single category to see if there’s anything new. If you can get the Archive links back, it might save you some bandwidth.
The “Donate” link is a good idea too. It’s a great site, I think you’d get some takers.
Just put pictures of Keeley Hazell on here. That will save bandwidth and I’ll still see everything I want to see. Maybe Lindsay Lohan, too, if you can find some boob shots of her. And that one Italian chick that was pretty hot. And the British girl……
If you end up having to remove old pics/videos, how about introducing a voting feature for each pic/video so you can be sure you are deleting the least popular ones.
I really appreciate your taste in women and I would also be willing to donate to the cause. I start my day with the BoobieBlog…. thank you
