The Death of the Topless Page 3 Girl!

Time to put on black armbands, because after 44 years, this week marks the death of the topless Page 3 girl in The Sun newspaper. The end of an era of boob awesomeness. Word is that the decision is coming high up from media mogul Rupert Murdoch himself, who owns the paper and who last year called Page 3 “old-fashioned, but readers seem to disagree.” Apparently there has also been a long campaign in Britain against the topless Page 3 girls and I guess they were finally successful.
It’s pretty sad if you ask me, because this has been around since forever, and it has launched the careers of many of my favourite British models over the years. So, let’s bow our heads, and go over some of the most important and memorable Page 3 girls!
In November of 1970, Stephanie Rahn was the FIRST girl to be featured topless on Page 3 of The Sun with this photo.
Samantha Fox was already popular on Page 3 in the mid 80’s before becoming a pop star with her smash hit Touch Me (I Want Your Body)! She remains one of the most famous Page 3 girls ever, and she’s been credited with putting BIG BOOBS on the covers of British glamour mags.
Linda Lusardi did Page 3 in 1976, but has remained very popular. In 2005 she was voted the BEST PAGE 3 GIRL EVER!
Before Spice Girls, Geri Halliwell appeared topless on Page 3! Girl power indeed!
Can’t talk about Page 3 without mentioning Katie Price aka Jordan who turned her topless appearances into a career where she made millions of dollars. She’s been a bit of a train wreck but the tabloids love her.
Keeley Hazell was an instant hit when she won the 2004 Page 3 Idol competition. She has appeared a RECORD 111 times in the paper. A well deserved record.
